UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
The Faroe Islands were formally admitted as Associate Member of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 2007. Faroese participation in FAO focuses in particular on contributing actively to the work of the FAO Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture (COFI) and initiatives for the implementation of the Code of Conduct on Responsible Fishing, responsible fish trade and sustainable aquaculture. Through FAO, the Faroe Islands are working to enhance contacts and cooperation with fisheries nations around the world.
