Ministry of Finance

The Ministry’s main task is to provide the Minister with ministerial services within the sphere of the Ministers jurisdiction, which includes financial and economic matters. This includes the legislative work underpinning taxation-, fees and tariffs. In addition, the Ministry advices the Minister on matters concerning bank regulation as well as assisting with wage negotiations with unions representing public employees.

The Ministry of Finance acts as coordinator, thus coordinating across the different Ministries in budgetary-, financial and economic matters. The aim is to ensure that the national administration solves its tasks in a beneficial and economic viable way.

The Ministry of finance presides over a number of public intuitions, namely those that fall under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Finance. The Ministry thus acts as the administrative head office for these institutions.
