Fisheries
The Framework Agreement on Fisheries between the UK and the Faroe Islands, which came into effect on 1 January 2021, provides a framework for annual consultations between the UK and the Faroe Islands on the exchange of fishing opportunities and reciprocal fishing access in each other’s waters.
The Minister of Fisheries is the responsible government minister for bilateral fisheries cooperation with the UK, with officials in the Ministry of Fisheries maintaining contact with their counterparts in the United Kingdom Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
